A.tuberosa is used by Monarchs, but it isn't their favorite, because other milkweeds provide better nutrition. Common and Swamp are very useful and much sought after by the Monarch females for egg laying. There are different varieties of milkweed that are native to different regions and you are better off growing what historically did well near you. Check out Monarch Watch. They help to get the correct type of milkweed into the right area.
