it makes sense to have on a room with a tv, or office, to cut down on the noise or sightlines/mess/privacy without a solid door. not good if you have running children, tho.

you do have to consider how they will/may stand open. if no place to stand open, assume they will be closed all the time.

if they are too narrow its better to have a single wider door than have to open both sides to comfortably walk through.

I love French doors! We have them between the library and the study in our old Victorian. They let in light, but cur down on the noise, and just look beautiful.

Love French doors. The only issue is the swing. Just make sure the two doors don't interfere with your floor plan when you open or close them.

Go for it! I think good quality french doors are one of the easiest ways to add character to a new build.

Yes, yes, yes!!! French doors add a traditional European sense to the home. They are a great way to divide spaces but still maintain an "openness" feel. Of course, they look great as entry/exit points as well. We are big fans!

I have them on two rooms, and love them. They allow for privacy/sound barriers without sacrificing light. We have two heating zones in our house, and the french doors allow us to keep those rooms cooler in winter without totally closing them off.
