I would buy a 12"x12" tile in a yellow/gold beige. When you bring your samples home, please them on the floor and tuck them underneath your cabinet and look at your countertop at the same time to make sure there is a relationship between them both. I like it when the tile is not as busy as the granite. I would do at least 12 x 12 tile. The less grout the better - grout sometimes gets stained. I noticed at Lowes the other day that there was a new substance you can mix in the grout to make it more stain resistant now.

In smaller rooms, I like to go with bigger tiles.
And, I always like putting them on the diagonal at the smallest width - to give the illusion of space. Minimum tile size 12X12 - perfect size is 18x18 or 12X24.
Tie-in the tile colour with a tone from the granite countertop.

I like the tile straight, not diagonal. After you pick the floor to go with the counter, you can compare a few paint samples so that the hue is right.

I also prefer 12x12 size tiles. If you lay them on point or diagonal, it can often make a smaller room look larger.
