What is behind the headboard wall? Is the wall permanent?

My master bedroom is large with high ceilings similar to this, but I would like to add additional closet space behind the headboard similar to this.

Yes- the wall is permanent, it just doesn't extend all the way up to the ceiling. The space behind the wall is used as a desk area in this home, but I think it could also work for a closet. Good luck!
