I think violets in nature have a scent. The scent would have to come from somewhere, probably the gessies that have a scent. That will probably come some day because violets are so accommodating. Not having a scent makes them easier to keep indoors for folks with allergies. There is a flowering shrub here called lantana that has a horrible sweet scent. Joanne

I'm really wanting a black one right now. There are a few already that are almost black, like Mac's Black Pearl and Mac's Kung, but you never can find these for sale! And ones like Dark Night of the Soul are really only dark purple.

Mac's Black Pearl and Mac's Kung come really close to black, but are never offered as far as I know. They must be pretty rare. But I can dream...

Yep, but out of dreams sometimes comes reality!!!! It is just fun to see what others would like to see hybridized.

That just wouldn't be as fun as a black violet. I love orchids too, and wouldn't mind having the one you describe, but it can't take the place of the AV!
