Connecting TV to wireless router

Hi, we have a Panasonic Viera TV with a wireless adapter. Home wireless network is managed by Netgear router.

The TV used to be connected to the Internet via the router and we were able to stream content from Hulu/Amazon/Netflix - these are the applications within the Panasonic TV. For some reason, this connection stopped working and TV now "searches" for wireless networks, DOES find our network but is unable to connect to it, it times out.

The Netgear router has multiple devices connected to it, no problems there - 3 computers, 1 iphone, 1 Android device and 2 ipads. Guests come and go with their mobile devices connecting to our network and router is fine with all of this, but for some reason the router and the TV can't agree to connect anymore.

what can we do? We restarted both router and TV multiple times. Should we do a hard reset for the router? Is there an obvious setting that we should check in the security of the router?

thank you in advance,

Dax

If all the other devices work wiht the router, it would appear the problem is with the TV. Check to see if there isa firmware update available for the Panny.

How would I do that without it connected to the Internet? Will it take usb stick? Should check. Thanks for suggestion.

Try to put the IP address in the TV manually. Check what IP address your PC is using for example, and then pick a random address in that range for your TV

Check you TV's user manual for how to find what the firmware revision date is for the TV now. Then got to Panasonic web site and find the specs for your TV. Somewhere it should list the latest firmware for your TV. In the case of Visio they send the updates via the internet but you can also get a USB stick with the latest updates. The only problem is that they stop updates after a few short years.

    Thanks, guys. Will try.
The wireless adapter may also have gone bad?

Is your router seeing the wireless adapter? Is the adapter itself on your network?

No, adaptor isn't seen by the router.
TV recognizing the adapter, it asks to insert a USB wireless adapter when I start Viera tools. Once adapter is inserted the TV goes into" search for the network" and never finds anything.
I am thinking to move router closer? But Apple TV and the BlueRay player are on the network no problem with distance.

The Game adapter may need to be connected to your WiFi Network independent of the TV... so the adapter "sees" the network. Next step, connect the adapter to the TV?

Google on your adapter's name and see if there are not instructions on-line.

Problem kinda solved. Moved the router into the room next to TV, and TV reconnected and is now on the internet but intermittently, signal drops here and there. I think the wireless adaptor is a problem, something is not right because it worked great for 4 years when router was in the study, didn't have to be in the room next to TV. No other wireless device has a problem anywhere in the house. To replace the adapter - $139, steep. I think we are going to hold off on that for now. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

$139 for a Wireless Adapter? Wow!

    Shop around.

Might just hardwire the TV to the router. Ethernet cables are inexpensive at monoprice.com
