Hanging a heavy pendant lamp

I am trying to buy a heavy teardrop-shaped pendant lamp made of metal, in an antique shop. I don't know the metal, but the dimensions are about 70cm by 80cm, and it weighs about 10 kilos.

The fittings and light bulb it has in the shop are cheap, so I'd like to replace them. Currently it has a metal chain and a metal 'canopy' (ie, the part connected to the ceiling). And then a wire that comes down separately with a cheap bulb and socket.

Ideally I'd like to hang it from a plastic canopy with just a wire. But can a wire hold such a heavy pendant? Any suggestions? I guess I would also have to fortify the ceiling connection.

Much appreciate any help.
