Not an easy question to answer. The pics don't really show its growth structure, but look up Poke Weed.

Pokeweed is poisonous to all humans and animals, unless due care is used in preparing the few edible parts. In the Appalachia's it is used, or was, as a food source.

Pokeweed, Johnson grass, same thing and poisonous. I just pulled out a big one growing outside my riding arena...probably planted by a bird. Get rid of it.

Pokeweed isn't the same thing as Johnson Grass, if that's what you're saying, cakbu. Or have I misunderstood?
