Check out Fasade. They have easy install panels that are contemporary looking.

It may be difficult to remove the piece of granite along the wall - without replacing it with something of equal depth. I'd suggest leaving it as is and adding complimentary tiles (ann sacks makes a number of shades, styles) - perhaps in thin horizontal stacked glass tiles. As so much going on in the granite, I'd use 1 color, not a pattern here too....

Alternatively, if the granite backsplash is truly "glued on" and there is no gap left when it is removed - totally take the whole thing off!

The two drawbacks to removal are that the glue that attaches your backsplash to your granite counters may stick on the counters and damage the finish of the granite in that small, edge area, and also that the gap between the granite counter and the wall might in some places be wider than the width of the tile you choose to replace the small backsplash. So some people take the risk and go ahead and remove it; others build the backsplash above the small granite one.

The backsplash has a joint. It can be removed. The dry wall would be repaired and the new tile set in. If tile is very thin, the setting can be thicken

It really looks like the back splash is just too short, you should have gone with a higher one and then it would look better or go with a travertine tile that would work well to match the color
