Need help for this catwalk

This catwalk is above my livingroom. The walls are painted ghost pines . The huge TV HAS to stay up there. I need help making it look not so well....bland...?

I hesitate to ask but why does the TV have to be up there? I guess I need a phicture of the whole room, especially from farther back. When you say catwalk, do you mean you can walk up there?

Because hubby doesn't want it above the fireplace and the other walls are all windows...Yes you can walk up there. It is 21 feet long and 5 feet wide

actually the room is big enough and we have no problems watching the TV because it is so big.. The room is massive it's a little "theaterie" I guess

i am having difficulty understanding your tv placement....it is extraordinarily high, regardless of how large your space is...please post more pics.

As you can see, yes we are confused, but who cares, it is your room. As you've compared it to a little theater, why not go with that theme? Some short red curtains on either side and above the TV would cover the catwalk, and give that theater feel. There would be nothing else to do, you still have access, and you'd have a decor that suits the space. And as it is so high up, you can buy faux velvet in a rich jewel color, the approximate length, and tack it to the ceiling above the catwalk, even with the TV screen. No sewing, just take it down when your ready for a change.

I agree. The velvet curtains are a great idea,, I could hide the tv then. If i were to take the tv completely out what could i do then??

Find a new husband. No, really. The TV can go on a low media center type credenza in front of a large window. There is nothing wrong with that placement (although you will hear other differing thoughts here about that).

Buy some grommet top drapes from somewhere cheap like Ikea. Install them close to the ceiling & take them down to the floor. Get matching ones for all windows. Ikea also has room darkening ones If you really want to keep the theatre effect. Also light filtering. Good luck. (Never heard of that TV placement.)

If the TV is gone, I'd use the catwalk for storage. It's so high, anything you place there for decor would have to be right on the edge. Do you have a cat or two? If so, put some cat beds up there, and let them claim it as their own. It really is a difficult space to decorate. So I would cover it with floor to ceiling curtains, as suggested by another poster above, put the TV on a console in front of the curtains, and leave it at that. You could if you're handy at DIY put in shelves, with a library ladder, at the front and use behind the shelves as hidden storage. Curtains are easier, and cheaper.

, Thank you so very much.. I am going to do the ladder shelving... I LOVE books, so what a nice compromise, and I like the idea of storage room :)

We had our TV in front of a window for years....had vertical blinds on the window. Had no problem watching it, no glare and furniture was easy to arrange. I would put your TV on a low credenza in front of a window and use the catwalk for storage.....book shelves would be ideal and it seems you like that idea also. Storage behind the bookshelves sounds like a good idea also.,
