Is this normal?

These girls are blooming beautifully but look wilted. Is it just the heat? Zone 9 East facing. HOT! 90 right now. New to gardening.

Not unusual at all, may have to increase water during hotter weather to maintain the humidity. I have gone out and misted ours in the morning and have also placed small water trays out underneath them to keep the humidity up when it gets too hot and that usually prevents the wilting.

I'm a little worried about the one in front. She seemed to only perk up a little after watering while all others were standing at attention. She is now as pitiful as ever and it's after dark. She was looking this way first thing this morning before any sun was directly on her. Should I plant her in the ground? I read that Tropical hibiscus will do fine in potted plants...??

Yes they were still in pots until this morning. I decided to give the girls a permanent place in the garden. I've stepped up on the watering and so far they are both looking good. The pots were very small btw. Good call.

Sandra, planting them into the ground was probably exactly what they needed. I'm glad they are doing better. If the soil still seems to be drying out too fast, you can add a layer of mulch. Even up here with our comparatively cool and rainy summers, I mulch to conserve moisture.

Yes, they will do well in pots if they are an appropriate size- at the time I had missed they weren't planted. The pots you purchased them in are much too small as far as soil content and will dry out too quickly- planting them is an easy way not to have to deal with potting at all- otherwise they would need to be reported into a more permanent larger pot with more soil.

I live in Zone 9 and I sell the flowers you have in the photo. They simply need water. The blooms pull all extra moisture from the plant so when they are blooming, they need more water especially. I can tell by your Sunpatiens that your bedding are is dry. Sunpatiens although tolerant to sun are still fairly sensitive to extreme sun and heat. The plants this time of year sometimes need water twice a day. Never water your plant leaves and blooms during the day either, it will burn them. Water only the soil/root systems.
