Help me brighten this space!! Fireplace planking??

This is our future living room. I want to lighten it up once we move in. I was thinking about doing white planking above the fireplace, but our TV will have to go on top of that. With a lighter color on the walls also I was hoping that would lighten and brighten the space. Any thoughts and/or vision are appreciated!

Personally I would remove the TV and place it on the console to the left of the fireplace. I know that is not the question, but still. haha

How about a nice warm white for the walls and a very very very pale blue for the ceiling. Then reverse the combo in the dining room. A bit darker blue wall and white ceiling and trim?

Actually this idea can be used with any color for a two toned effect between the two rooms.

Ha! I don't love the TV above fireplace either but it's a good spot for viewing from other rooms too.

Actually this was something I didn't realize I was posting here, but rather to another post in which she was looking for a smaller sofa design, so small arms seemed like a great idea! But it can work anywhere!

i don't mond the tv over the FP...a shared focal wall. just be sure to balance the scale of wall art and be sure to add other black elements into the palette so the tv isn't the only black item in the space. a softer wall color will help, as would the application of some painted ship lap above the FP...a great idea since you can run all the cords behind the wood....see joanna gaines on hgtv's fixer upper to see this ship lap application done beautifully! ;)
