Bluestar igniter issue/question

Reaching out to all my fellow Bluestar owners. After two and a half years of smooth sailing, my first igniter went out, or so I thought.

The 15k, (right rear) burner on my 36RNB continues to click/spark after the burner is lit, even on high. Interestingly, it's my least used burner of the four, by far. So I grabbed one of the two new spare igniters that came with the range, and installed it... same click, click, click. Then I swapped the front burner igniter (that I know works) to the rear, and same issue... click/spark, even when burner is on. Then I put the old 15k igniter in the front burner, and it just works fine, so it's not the igniter itself.

Now I am puzzled, the issue only occurs on the right rear burner. Any thoughts on what to check next? Has anyone experienced the same or a similar issue?

I'll add that this started intermittently a few weeks ago but not every time. Since it is my least used burner, it's not a big priority, but obviously want to get it working correctly.

I had something like this when my cleaning lady took everything apart for cleaning. It turned out the gas supply pipe wasn't all the way into the hole. Once I shoved it forward, it started to work just fine. You might try that. That's all I got.

Sounds like a module issue to me or it could be shorting out, check to see if the wire is touching the floor of the range top

homechef59 for the win! Tugged the burner pipe toward the front of the range just a smidge and voila, all working fine! ...Put the new igniters back in the bag for a later date ;)

First of all, we sound, you know, kinda bad when you mention "my cleaning lady" - which is why I never mention my cleaning lady, because we have one (once every two weeks) because we are apparently incapable of doing it ourselves properly. Granted, my wife and I work full time and have kids - but somehow my mom managed it. But we suck at cleaning. So homechef59, you are bolder than I - good work.

Anyhow - "someone" (my cleaning lady) continually beats the heck out of our BS igniters. I went so far as to take pictures of the burners, indicate what not to clean, and print it out on card stock for them. Didn't work. I've gotten tired of replacing - the darn screws rusted in place and I've only tapped out and replaced half. Need to replace one of the igniter modules. I've given up for now and just keep a hand lighter in the side drawer for the couple which no longer light.

I don't want to hijack this thread but can you tell how you removed the rusted igniter screws stevep2005? I have the exact problem on my 22K burner and I cannot figure out how to get the screw out. Thanks!

gw_monkeyjac - I was able to back one out with one of those 'stripped head screw extractors' but the rest were simply rusted solid in place. For those I started with very small drill bits and worked my way up until I could fit the right size tap in to clean the rest of the old screw out of the threads. A PITA. On one, the tap broke in place so I had to drill on the side of that and thread a new hole. Crazy. Beats buying a new burner though.

I think that might exceed my abilities. I looked into getting one of those stripped head screw extractors but wasn't sure if it would work. I might be getting a new burner. Thanks stevep2005!
