I think the purple colouration is just due to the flowers deteriorating. None of the new flowers look purple, only the shrivelled dying ones.

Thank you I am not familiar with varieties of petunias. No, they seem to go upwards if that makes sense. I wanted a draping or overflowing look but it is quite the opposite. Some what leggy?

I wonder if it will start to overflow when the shoots get longer. I have tidal wave petunia in pots and they tend to grow upwards too, but as the vines are getting longer, they are starting to plop over. I don't think yours are tidal waves, because your leaves seem to be on the smaller size.

There are many, many varieties of petunias. Some trail, but other types grow upright. Wave and other premium petunias like Surfinia are usually sold with name tags, and a higher price than the generic ones only marked "petunia."
