I hope you planted the seeds you were given. It may be too late for lettuce, which likes cool weather. My parsley sprouts like a weed and basil likes it hot, so I bet you could try those and have good results.

I did plant the seeds and the parsley did come up! Not holding out any hope for the lettuce as we have been breaking records left and right with temperatures at 100 degrees for over a week now. The basil I'm still waiting on but at least the parsley sprouted. :)
