Go easy on the watering. If you did not use a fertilizer at time of planting, top-dress with a balanced 1:1 ratio product such as Jobe's Organic granular 4-4-4. You might also consider sampling your soil to determine its profile. Using a qt. jar, add 1/3 soil to 2/3 water shake well and allow to sit until the soil separates and the sample settles. There are a number of charts available online to help you determine your soil's characteristics. From there you can chose your amendments accordingly, coming from a better informed position as opposed to guessing.
