Do you know what type of tea olive, or have the botanical name?

It is Osmanthus Fragrans and it is actually about 5.5 feet tall.

As a professional landscape designer, I always use mycorrhizae enriched fertilizer along with a good basic like Hollytone every three months to keep my garden healthy and vibrant.

My tea olive blooms twice a year and has never had any fertilizer. It is in clay soil as well. Teas just don't need much fertilizer at all. I also only watered twice last summer and we were experiencing drought conditions. I really think you are giving it too much love. From a gardener of 40+ years.

I tend to agree with maylingsmom. However, you'll probably want to wean that tree off its weekly deep watering rather than cutting it off abruptly.
