Help choose hardware

Hello. Some of you may have read my posts regarding our backsplash decision. Long story short, we are remodeling a small condo kitchen in Florida. I had trouble deciding on a backsplash. Nothing has been ordered, but this is the choice.

An accent in the blue/white pattern behind stove and the 2x4 subway tile on the rest.

I am now at the point where I need to choose hardware. In the house I built at home, I did knobs everywhere except the mudroom. I think I want to try some pulls this time around. I will do knobs on doors, but maybe pulls on drawers. Here are some options. Anyone want to weigh in on their faves?

It's a personal preference but my first thought is that you need polished hardware (chrome or nickel) to go with that beautiful backsplash.

I really like the idea of 2x4 subways with the mosaic. It's going to be beautiful.

I like the chrome knob on bottom right, but none of the pulls match up. Beautiful tile choice.

Love your tile! I really love the pull on the bottom left, although I have to admit that it is because it is very similar to what I'm looking for! Mind sharing the maker?

That tile will look great with any, but I personally like the upper right or lower left pulls the best with it. I stalked your last tile choice thread, can't wait to see the reveal!

I'm going to go against the previous posters and say I like the plain pull in the middle left. I don't care for any of the knobs (probably because I prefer a more square looking pull). I guess it depends on the style you're looking for.

    Let's see:

--I have all stainless appliances and a stainless sink, so I think I should go that way with the pulls; also have a brushed faucet

--I like the chrome knob in the bottom right too. I think I may use that in the walk-in closet b/c it is next to bathroom that has chrome everything; funny thing about that knob--it what I have in my home kitchen (just in brushed in the kitchen)

--Thanks for comments on the pulls, I am leaning towards those too. They are by Residential Essentials. Funny thing about those is that my appliance handles at home look like the bottom left pull. Maybe I am not going enough outside my comfort zone--ha!

Eric, you were typing when I was. I really liked that plain pull at first too. Not sure if I think it is too plain now. I think it would look great with inset cabinets in a traditional white kitchen. I do think it is good looking, though. It is by Hickory. I like the circles around the bottom of the legs of the pull.

Like the rope one bottom right.

I'm painfully practical, so if this is a vacation home I'd get the absolute simplest hardware that will just need a simple wipe down; no nooks and crannies that will collect dust or grime. I'd want to spend my time relaxing and enjoying the condo and zero time cleaning or looking at dirty hardware.

I agree with Benjesbride - IMHO all the pulls shown are too fussy for both appearance and practicality except the one on the middle left.

Regarding the finish, it is impossible to tell just from the photos whether a stainless finish would look better or worse than the sparkle of a polished chrome finish. If you have a lot of brushed or "matte" finishes in your kitchen, it might be nice to have that gleam of polished chrome to break up the matchy-matchiness. Then again, maybe not. My advice is to buy a couple of the pulls in each finish, and see them in your kitchen. Sometimes the manufacturers allow you to buy samples which they will credit toward your final purchase. Even if they don't allow that, buying a couple samples is a small investment given what the big investment in all the pulls will be.

Sammy, I was concerned that they are too fussy. I think that waiting to see them in the kitchen might be good. That is what I did at my full-time house. The problem is logistics! Being there at the right time and then being able to get the hardware...I will think about it, though. Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Benjesbride - I love that you mention that and it made me laugh, I am the same but in the opposite way. I'm very practical in my "regular" life, so if I had a vacation home I think I would go outside my norm with something a little fancier. I never considered that on vacation it may require more cleaning or fuss though - I obviously don't have a vacation home! : )

Kelleg69 - whatever you choose will be fantastic, you have some really beautiful choices already!

I just adore that backsplash. You are going to get so many compliments! I echo what others said- go a little simpler, but echoing the rounded/circular theme of the BS pattern in the pulls would be really nice.

I like the lower right pull (rope design) with the backsplash.

Bottom left! I feel like since your backsplash is subway tile and you have a fun accent piece you should have fun hardware! Simple my butt, vacation should be fun!!!!! ;)

i like the plain one in the middle....less is best.....
i feel it compliments the B/S instead of competing with it., the others are too fru-fru or "old" looking while your B/S has a more contemporary side...IMHO

I agree with the others who like the simple pull in the middle left. I'd pair it with a plain knob as well. Lovely. Mine might be the same ones- once you put a # of them up in the kitchen, they don't look too boring at all. Plus, the plain pulls/knobs won't compete with your pretty backsplash.

I too, like the simple pull middle left. But then it is very similar to my pulls, so I'm a bit biased;)

Cook, do you have pics of yours in your kitchen? Thanks everyone for weighing in. I do like that simple one. Not sure how much I will like really simple knobs, though. I guess I may look at those and see what I think. I do think simple might be better. I might end up using the rope one in the walk-in closet. Those are fun and it is a place where I could mix it up.

Plain or something a little different, like the rope pull.

Or can we pick something like this?

Of the ones in your picture, I think the rope one is the most "beach house" and the shape goes nicely too.

But....have you checked out beaglesdoitbetter's kitchen? I couldn't find her kitchen reveal, but found this thread....

    http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2498667/mostly-finished-kitchen-pics?n=128

I think the pulls that she used would look awesome in your kitchen!

I am sure whatever you choose will look great, but that framed blue backsplash area will be the WOW!!!

Thanks again to all of you. I appreciate all the comments, even though they confuse me more. I look forward to hearing people's thoughts. I think the backsplash will be pretty and don't want to detract from it. I will say, in real life, it is a bit paler. I may try to take another pic. I hope it has the wow factor in real life...

Nosoccermom, funny that I did look at the swirly ones at one point. Great minds think alike. And, rebunky, thanks for sharing that kitchen. I have seen it before. The knobs are really neat. I considered the the Blue Bahia granite. Beaglesdoitbetter did an awesome job with that kitchen.

I tried to get a more true pic of the blue in the backsplash. It just won't happen. The blue is lighter. More sky blue than the French blue it looks like in pic. I looked at several options and this color was the one that worked the best--I hope!

I actually like the longer of the top two pulls. I don't think anybody has said that yet. I wouldn't get excited about it by itself, but it echoes the shape of the flower petals in your backsplash in a really nice way.

Jillius, that is what I thought. The shape is pretty much spot on...I like them all! Hard to choose. I really may have to wait until the cabinets are in. Not sure when that will be. I'm going down there in early July. I hope by then, we can see the kitchen partially done.

Jillius I had the same thought.

Actually, I think I change my vote to the top longer one, too. But then, I personally like all but the bottom left, which is a bit too traditional in my opinion.
Are there any that just feel better in your hand?
