Is it ok to make the front room the dining room?

I'm thinking of making my front room (currently a rarely used living room) into a dining room… would that be odd? We have a small eat-in kitchen and a rec room in the basement.

It's not odd but it is a bit unusual. On the other hand, it's nice that the dining room isn't hidden away and can be a focal point.
