What to do with cypress siding

We have purchased a real project here. Beautiful inside, but outside OMG. Forty year old cypress siding. I'll give it a good powerwash, but then what?? New red roof. Stain or paint? What color(s)? Desperately need advice. Thanks.

Guess it will depend on your red roof- HOW red.. I wouldn't mix sage with a red roof, nor would I paint BRIGHT red with a red roof. Perhaps a 'baked brick red' or ' dune grey' or a 'burnt hickory'. These pics from an online prestained/prepainted cedar shingle site. These are painted not stained colors.

11 years agoWow, quite a house. I'd love to see more. Do you have more photos, including the red roof? One of the tans or this gray from a photo in your ideabook would define the house. Trim color is important, too.

Unfortunately, the front of the house faces into the woods, so the initial picture is the primary entrance.
