Western Nebraska. I have large mulch beds around the borders of our property but we have lots of trees that produce an enormous amount of fertile seeds. I have pulled thousands of oaks, elms, russian olives, chokecherries,, lindens, euonymous seedlings, , as well as annual weeds that sprout from all the seeds that blow in from neighboring yards. I want a long lasting preemergent that will not harm the trees, shrubs and perennials but that would keep seed from germanating.

While some on line sources list these as "professional products" none of the sites state that a purchaser needs a license. Any pre emergent might work for seeds that germinate after it is applied but would not necessarily work on seeds that a placed the next season. One of those, I have forgotten which, says it is effective for about 8 months.

If Nebraska requires one to be a certified pesticide applicator you may not be able to purchase either one. Both are very expensive.
