I mixed mine. Have some brushed nickel and oil rub bronzed, but my preference was to mix it up. I think in the big scheme no one really notices but in a subtle way it adds a little interest.

I do like to keep the light fixtures sort of the same tone, either light or dark toned, but everything else I mix

75% one type, 25% something else.

I like a mix. If you get what you like (heard that one before?) then everything should look good together.
