Of course it will get dirty thee are cleaning products on the market but my advice for starters is to buy leather that is not too delicate when buying white a good heavy cowhide is a better choice than calf leather I have white leather in cowhide that is now 8 yrs old with lots of entertaining 2 big dogs grandkids it stands up well and I just use a damp cloth to wpe it off once a week

Agreed on the leather quality. You do not want belly hide as it is the thinnest part of the animal. If you do have pets toenail hygiene is paramount. If you can hear your dog's toe nails on the floor they are too long. For kiddoms cats use the plastic toe sheaths. (Most vets will no longer declaw.) You can get them on Amazon. I'd have the furniture factory put a protective coating for stain resistance before it even comes home.

Just read a post about using baby oil on the leather 4 times a year.

I do not agree with the coatings to protect from staining they clog the pores in leather and keep it from breathing and my guess would be so would baby oil the best conditioner I have found is mink oil used very sparingly once ayear and the rest of the time a soft damp cloth for dusting on a regular basis and a very mil soap for dirt . I have had leather furniture for 40 yrs never had it crack and used this method always my oldest set is still in my sons rec room out of style but still going strong.
