I would add a privacy treatment to the windows, such as wood blinds, shutters, Silhouettes or cellular shades. Then I would add stationary side panels to each side of the window, using a fabric with color and pattern. You could repeat the pattern with cushions on the chairs.

I would get a decorative rod and grommet top panels...NO blinds. The panels come in many fabrics, colors, patterns, etc. They range from sheers to blackout. They can be purchased from $9 per panel up to hundreds of dollars per panel. They add softness to the windows/room. They can easily be pulled closed if needed. Be sure to get enough panels to add fullness if closed. Keep them open in order to get natural light or take advantage of nice views.
