Identify Odd Art Piece

Was Just looking for any info on this artist and perhaps a price that is fair for it.

It is made of wood. Thickness is probably 1/4 inch or a bit less. Very intricate cuts it appears.

I'm also curious how it was made.

Looks like pyrography....wood burning. Looks like a tribute to music with the instruments, the sheets for Die Fledermaus, Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Cats. Some of these things were sold as kits....sort of like paint by numbers, and others were artist created. Either way the work was often signed.

This is definitely not pyrography. Also you can see the artist signature in the pictures.

Where is the signature? You mean to say this was done with a jig saw???...AAH...likely not from a kit!!

It's on oak-veneered plywood, so that makes it later rather than earlier. If I'm not mistaken laser-cutting leaves the edges of the cut looking rather singed and darker than the front.
It could have been done the old-fashioned way with a fretsaw. The plywood material is logical, otherwise it would have fallen apart as it was being cut.

I would agree that due to the intricacy of the cuts it is probably done with a laser BUT then why are a lot of the cuts so imperfect. look closely. I can provide more pics if needed.

Hello - I'm visiting from the Quilting forum. :) The second picture looks to me more like a playbill for a Royal theater or something. But if it is the artist's signature, maybe the numbers mean created in 1971, and number 6 of 6 works.

It's really neat - I hope someone can tell you more about it. (I'm a classical music fan.)

Seriously, 1971? _Cats_ premiere was in 1980.

edit: it occurs to me maybe Cats is the title of some violin piece, not the Musical Show. ?

The metronome and references to Beethoven and Strauss make It seem more geared to classical music, and that cat doesn't look anything like the Cats characters. I'm guessing the artist loved his music and his kitty! :)

The Royal Albert Hall opened in 1871. I think the "signature" is supposed to be a Royal Hall programme, and Die Fliedermaus is a Strauss operetta.

I think this piece is referencing favorite pieces of music. It almost looks like the cat is lying on top of a piano, with sheets of music in front, and the violin, metronome, and portrait are in front of a wallpapered wall.

It's very intricate, no matter how it was done. Have you tried removing the back of the frame? Maybe you could find more information.

The scale of the square shape that says "Royal" is too small to be a theatre programme, but it could be a package of violin strings; I checked, there is a brand of strings "Royal".

If I thought there was any signature there, it would be the "G Trivnam" or whatever that is over "Beethoven".

Maybe it's a tribute to a pet cat? Perhaps the date is about that & not the work itself...?
