Thanks everyone for the kind words. The roses on the front of my house are new between mid summer last year and some were planted probably 2 months ago. The roses on the side of my house (Wm Shake, Abe, Lichfield Angel and The Pilgrim) have been planted for 4 years. I also have many in my backyard, both old and many new. I believe I currently have 55 David Austins and probably 10 Meillands (many Romanticas), 19 Kordes, and some other misc hybrid teas. Many are new this year so we will see how they do.

A beautiful collection of Austins. You have the magic touch! Do you feed them often? I have heard they need more food and water than others.

Luckily I don't live in a really warm zone so I really don't have to water them too often. We have also been getting a lot of rain lately. As far as feeding goes, I have been moving more to organic feeding. I've really been feeding the soil the last 2 years. I applied compost and manure in the Spring and the Fall. I make my own rose food with blood, fish, alfalfa, kelp, cottonseed, and bone meals. I also add Epsom, milorganite, gypsum, and Azomite. I also top all roses with a handful of red lava rocks for potassium. I probably feed them my mix once/month.

What a beautiful Austin collection--and one gorgeous Eden rose! Look forward to seeing next years pics as the roses mature--but they are looking really fine right now!

I'm really envious of your Pilgrim. Mine (several years old) gave up 2 blooms for the spring flush--and nothing since. Don't know what I need to do for her to get kick-started.

My Pilgrim is grafted and about 4 years old. I do think it is blooming more this year for me than in the previous years. Honestly, I think everything is blooming a lot more for me this year. I really do think it is due to all of the amendments I've been putting in the soil over the last year. They all seem really happy right now, and not a speck of blackspot anywhere. Yet..... And we have had a ton of rain lately. We will see if that changes after this first flush.

I'm envious of your Braveheart. Now I have to try to figure out where to squeeze him in.
