Plumeria Sun Damage?

We have a plumeria that is 5 years old that we grew from a cutting from Hawaii. It has only ever been indoors, but in a sunny south facing window. I'm trying to move it outside this year to help it grow stronger.

I am slowly trying to get them acclimated to the sun. I originally moved it to a location that got 3-4 hours of afternoon sun. After about 3 days I saw some damage and moved it to a place with about 2-3 hours of morning sun.

Some of the leaves looked to have got a little crispy. Is there anything I should be doing differently?

It's hard to tell for sure but I'm thinking spider mites are the culprit.

It has had spider mites before. I'll spray again.

You might also rule out herbicide damage and overfertilization.

No herbicides were sprayed inside ever. I haven't applied any to my property since I moved it outside, though my neighbor's lawn service came by a week ago. The wind direction is such so that typically there wouldn't be drift from them to me.

I fertilize once a week with a very diluted application of Foliage Pro.

Before spraying against anything you can check by naked eye if there are red spider mites, they are like red sand granes usually located underside of the leaves. One thing that also gives you traces is the sucking point, if there is no sign of actual physical damage you may also consider other things..
