Gottcha colors

last modified: 11 years ago

This one is new to me this year, but the color so far has been right up my "gottcha alley". Mexican Maiden

Another one that stands out in a crowd is Stroke of Brillance. A good solid golden yellow

I'm serious about bright colors and this Rebutia Cactus bloomed and meant business

To dial things down a bit a nice mellow yellow Sherry Lane Carr

Dial it up again with a nice hose in hose double Scarlet Marie

Finally to warm my heart and yours the best darned garden kitty in the world (except yours of course). Yardley is always close and ready to spring into action.....Maryl

I don't usually like doubles, but Scarlet Marie is really nice. LOVE Yardley!

Sherry Lane Carr is a very pretty one, not as pretty as Yardley. Mexican Maiden is gorgeous. love that one.

I agree that Scarlet Marie is a standout. Mexican Maiden is nice, but a bit small for my preference. Sherry Lane Carr is so dependable; really, she is taken for granted.

Color is right! Love the bright ones, and your yard-cat is very aptly named.

Beautiful flowers. I love the colors especially on Scarlet Marie.

I bought Sherry Lane Carr twice and lost it both times. Decided not to try again even thou I like it a lot.

All lovely. Are your daylilies in shaded area or is it just an overcast day? Love Yardley :)

That's interesting Ruth about your experience with Sherry Lane Carr. She's indestructible here even in a pot. What zone are you in?.....Julia: Most of my daylilies are grown in a full sun to part sun exposure (part sun = east side of house/west side of house). Since they are in pots I can move the smaller pots under the porch when I go to photograph, away from the glaring sunlight and our ever constant wind. Seldom if ever do I take morning photos though. I let them have the effects of our sun until at least noon or later so that the colors are more truly represented in my photos. Of course with our soaring heat going up to and over the century mark, the colors can fade or change even more, but I think noon to about 2PM is a fairly accurate portrayal of color potential.....Maryl

Yardley is adorable! I love the name!

Thanks Brad. I'm hoping it will be a keeper and so far it has looked very good indeed......Thanks Pugmother. There's nothing like a good old fashioned striped kitty to patrol the garden. Never had one yet that wasn't a hunter. Yardley's just the best......Maryl

Everything is so nice. Loved every photo! I miss my garden kitty!

Thank you Ed. I miss all my kitties, but garden cats are extra special aren't they....Just went out and saw another daylily with a "gottcha color". New daylily this year, but so far I'm classifying this as colorfast. This was taken at 4PM, 95 degree temperature, and exposure of full all day sun: BURNING INHERITANCE:......Maryl

Yardley looks like a great gardening buddy. My favorites of the flowers are Stroke of Brilliance, for its form as well as its color, and Burning Inheritance that really blazes on my monitor.

Yardley is a fine looking cat. Love having a garden cat. Anf the brights, especially the reds are right up my alley. Don't usually like doubles, but I like Scarlett Marie. Mexican Maiden is quite pretty and I like your gold, Stroke f Brilliance. Nice post.
