You should immediately, as in today, cancel the contract by certified letter. If you wrote them a deposit check, cancel it. You're dealing with a dishonest company that is best avoided, no matter what the price is.

The odds of your house making the family members sick is extremely low, but if you're concerned, there are professionals who can come in and do the testing require to prove there's an issue. Window salesmen are not qualified to make that determination.

Ok, we just called to cancel and was put on the phone with the company " health director" who again pounded the table with sick home syndrome. He told me because he was concerned with my sons health, he doesnt want to cancel until he stops over tonight. Why in the world would a window company have to have a health director? This whole thing is wierd. My wife is hyperventilating over this sick home syndrome thing. The salesman has her totally brainwashed with this.

This is one of the biggest BS stories I've heard in a while.at first I laughed, then disbelief and now I just want to give this guy a beat down. Take Ultra's advice.

Call them back and ask for the full legal name of the "health director". Ask what training they have received and let them know that you'll be checking with your state to see if they are licensed to make such determinations. Hopefully, once your wife knows that they are unqualified to determine the healthiness of your home she'll calm down.

As to your contract, mail a letter of cancellation to their office via certified mail. If you waste time you're going to find yourself past the three day right of cancellation and then things get a bit more complicated.

This...is a new one. People are getting quite inventive these days and when you start talking about peoples health, they should really shut their mouths being a window salesperson.

It is reasonable, Stan, to look critically at the home when it comes to your son's health, but not because a doofus window sales guy said it was.

True to form, the salesman come back to my home last night with the company " health director" who tells me he is not here to talk about my window contract but to check on my son. I ask for his name and he just kind of brushes me off and says everyone calls him Mr, Joe.

He walks right past me and tells me to bring the boy downstairs so he can do an on site evaluation. I said, thanks but no thanks, he is sleeping. He then demanded to see a picture of him which i showed since his picture was hanging on the wall anyway. He immediately said he has all the signs of sick home syndrome and then had the audacity to tell me on his way in, he noticed we needed a new roof .. What !!!! I said i wanted to cancel the contract and before i know it, i have 2 of these leunatics in my home acting like doctors and now trying to sell me a roof ? Rally ?? I then politely requested that we put the contract on hold and he said " not so fast" and invited me to a breakfast with the company " big wig" on wednesday in order to properly allign things. Align things? I dont care about the Big Wig. Anyway, i agree but also know i am cancelling with this guy person.

As soon as i walk in his office, i am handing this big wig a cancellation notice and moving on.

DO NOT....I repeat...DO NOT go to their office to meet with their "Big Wig".

Sign the cancellation and send it via certified mail as Ultra instructed you to do so. Do not set foot in their office.

I would also Fax a cancellation notice and print out the confirmation page that it was sent and went through.

I would follow that up with a read receipt email notifying them of the cancellation.

Tell your wife not to be sold by a bunch of charlatan window sales guys. This whole scenario rises to the level of ludicrousness. These people are neither authentic, honest, or have the slightest idea of what they are talking about.

I am not joking when I say that you need to call your state Attorney's office.

I find this thread really odd. Is the poster for real? I don't think so. He keeps talking about really strange behaviors by the windows salespeople, but keeps saying he agrees to what they ask - signing a contract, allowing them to come over that evening, agreeing to the breakfast with the Big Wig.

The poster, "Stan The Man", has yet to talk about his actual windows, and what he is shopping for in the way of windows - that's a red flag. The things the OP is saying will inevitably make people on this forum protest and get upset. Are we being baited? The signed contract, the waiting until breakfast on Wednesday, the bullying salespeople, the upset wife, the guy who won't give his name, and, in particular, where the young child is the focus. I am skeptical - something seems off, things are too obvious and almost cliche. This thread is likely a practical joke on the Windows Forum.

I hope you are right at the end of the day. If it is a practical joke, it is in bad taste. If it is a real story, the sales process is in bad taste.

If this is true, WoW is right on the money with his recommendation of reporting this company to the state attorney, BBB, and local news affiliates. There are some low down and dirty window salesmen out there, but this is a new low... I agree with ak that the story is so crazy that it sounds fishy, but being in this industry for many years has taught me never to give too much credit to some window salesmen (and companies) when it comes to ethical practices.

Hey guys, every industry has sleazy people. You want sleazy, try dealing with a lawyer, they will make this window company look like angels.

How about doctors that submit false billing, teachers that pass students so the school gets more money, politicians, car salesman, dirty cops. The list goes on.

Give me a break, call local news channels ! Why?

Save that for a corrupt politician or a doctor that tells you that you need surgery when you dont. Better yet, how about calling the local news agencies and reporting all the welfare cheats in your area.

No offense to the poster but he needs to man up and tell the company to take a walk. I would never let anyone bully me in my own house. Hopefully this is a tall tale because this guy is an embarrassment to men.

I am surprised that he has not posted back to give us an update. I don't want to impugn this poster, but it is sounding more and more like a hoax and I am not sure what would even be the impetus behind something like that.

Windows on Washington - the impetus is sad - an "internet troll" is defined as "a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion." I think these people are lonely, and inciting an emotional response from forum readers gives them satisfaction and relief from their isolation.

agreed - time to move on - Stan has his day in the sun I think - with the title of the post being 'Is this estimate normal?' but no discussion of the actual window or budget/price considerations - it was an interesting read until I called BS as the drama unfolded.....
