I have met a friend in Raleigh yesterday. She told me that Raleigh plant swap is good.

I want to have plant swap in Charlotte too. Did we have one this year or did I miss it?

Lets have a plant swap this fall. Please introduce yourself, try to get acquainted.

I will start with me.

I have been in Charlotte more than 11 years. I have few collection of Exotic plants(mostly Jasminum Sambac). I am collecting fruit plants now. Right now I have Jujube, Guava, kiwi, banana. I like peonies, dahlia's, roses, amaryllis, Asiatic Lilly,. I do vegetable Gardening too. I can write a lot about me, but don't want to make you bore.

Who is going to be next?

I participated in a spring swap in Charlotte a few years ago and met lots of folks. If you decide to have a fall swap, let me know. I would love to swap plants. I have several iris, day lilies, hosta, and other perennials. Just let me know where you will post information: on this site or the garden exchange site.

I've been hosting swaps in Charlotte and the next will be this fall! There are great people who come and I always leave with lots of fun stuff. I'll post on gardeners when I set the date!

I've also been to plenty of the Raleigh swaps since my husband's parents live there, and it is so much fun!! That's what inspired me to start the Charlotte swaps!

Elaine5678, you mentioned that you would post ongardners. Does that mean you will post of the gardenweb carolina gardening forum? I a very interested in bringing plants to swap.

Yes! I'll post in the Carolina exchange, and hopefully I'll remember to post in this thread as well. I've been having the swaps at the Marion Diehl park shelter on Tyvola, near Park Rd in Charlotte. It's near Southpark mall.

Thank you Elaine. Can you please let us know about you. I have been on gardenweb for long time, but I don't know anyone. I never even thought of making friends... :(

I've been on Gardenweb for about 10 yes, but sporadically for the past 4 or so years (babies...!) I've been hosting the swaps for about 3 years. i live near Southpark mall, and that's part of the reason I chose the location for the swap. The shelter is great and there is plenty of parking too. The people I've met are so generous! I'm meeting with one person this week to give him some plants. I wouldn't have met him if it weren't for the swaps! I look forward to meeting everyone soon! If you were planning a swap, don't let me discourage you. There can be more than one in Charlotte! I'll come to yours too!

If there is one already planned, I will join that, I don't want to have separate one. I haven't seen one this spring. So I thought of organizing one this fall.

I am excited to meet everyone. Do you post the dates on exchange page?

is there any update on Charlotte plant swap?

Elaine, trying to figure where that shelter is at M.D. Is it the latticed area outside the pool building alongside the main parking lot for the Senior Center?

The only thing I have that is ususual is an indigofera that grows to about 2' tall and spreads. It's deciduous and has a larger flower than the tall indigofera. I started in '04 with a single 2 gallon pot and it has spread nicely to fill about a 10'x10' area under and along a holly tree in a bed that gets some drip irrigation and misting. It would be easy to chop out several gallon sized sections to share.

Hi Dottie! You may be describing what they call 'the patio', or a similar name. I think you can only access that from inside the building. The picnic shelter is a covered shelter with picnic tables.

There are 2 entrances to the park and the road/parking lot makes a U shape. The shelter is a the bottom of the U, with a playground right next to it. The shelter is fairly close to the parking lot, which is great for bringing plants in.

I'm still waiting for vacation plans to be firmed up before scheduling the swap. It will be one of the last weekends in September, possibly October.
