Back from 1st Quilt Fest trip

Had a great time at the Shipshewana IN Quilt Fest.. Saw inspiring quilts, bought 57 different pieces of fabric in an 8 store shop hop and walked miles. Had dinner and a quilting lesson at an Amish farm, saw a play and watched an antique auction. ( I say watched, kept my hands in my pockets) Walked a giant Flea Market and bought some Cherry butter from an Amish vendor. Went to a Bulk food shop where I bought fancy popcorn to pop at home along with Pink salt for DH. Now I have my first quilt fest pin I am on my way. My friend and I were already talking next Summers trip on the bus ride home.

Oh, wow, that sounds FABULOUS! I would love to do something like that. I'm so glad you got to go!

I've been to aqs shows, but went for just the day...yours sounded like a hoot.

Wren, The dinner I went to didn't have a quilting lesson, but it was delish, as they usually are. I love the bulk stores in the Amish communities as there are things a person can't get anywhere else.....plus the cheese is usually spectacular! I even have my DD send/bring me a few things. The flea market is something else, isn't it? I have never made it around the whole thing in one day, but we learned our fav vendors and where they were located so that saved a lot of time. I'm so glad you had a good time and are looking forward to returning.

Sounds like you had a great time! Mark this year's fest as the first in a long line of many! I've made over one dozen trips to Lancaster PA since 1999 and love them all!
