Kitchen colors

I am in need of advice! I painted and distressed our kitchen cabinets and now am thinking our colors might be too dark! I horrified because it not only tooke forever to come up with the color scheme, but also to paint and distress the cabinets. Our home is in the middle of a country subdivision and was built in the 70's...there is a horse barn in the neighborhood and horses right in our backyard. It is a pretty outdated house....and we would love to make it look clean and crisp! I just unsure of how to accomplish this! I have attached a few pics. Living room and kitchen are open floor plan. Please help!!

Your cabinets are very, very cute! I love them! What is too dark is that red wall color where the backsplash is. Repaint that a creamy white [match it to the cream color in your granite], and your kitchen will look wonderful.

Your cabinets look great! I do agree with Haley tho, the dark red is what doesn't work in there.

I appreciate your compliments on our cabinet :). I wld be thrilled to know I wouldn't have to repaint them. We used SW Cupola Yellow in the Living Room and the issue we have is that it connects to the kitchen and is open so I unsure of whether or not I have to use the same color in both rooms since they join and really form one open space?!

i dont care for the yellow any closer to the green. i'd go with something that's in your granite that goes with the yellow (which i like). you did an awesome job on the cabinets.

Thank you for the advice and the compliment :). Now I need to decide which color to pull out of the granite that will go with the yellow....

Your cabinets are fabulous. I would paint the walls as others have suggested. I'd paint one light color throughout. A nice off-white or so as others suggested to pull from the granite. Consider painting the closet door as well (different from the walls).
