Don't think it will help. IB are not something that starts in the soil. The eggs are laid on leaf tips, and when they hatch in spring once temps are high enough, they bore into the leaf, way above the soil line, and bore their way down inside the leaf until they get to the rhizome. GrubEx is for the grubs that reside or overwinter in the soil.

It seems the chlorantranilprole is another systemic grub control, as the labeling on the bag states that one application is good for an entire season. Many iris growers use Bayer Advanced Season Long Grub Control granules for controlling borers, but that contains imidacloprid (Merit) and I can't seem to find it right now.

Just wondering if anyone has used this particular ingredient for IB control and if it is systemic.

I thought Merit was banned in the last couple of years? Something for borers was. I am debating getting nematodes to eat them so it's organic and safe for me to be barehanded in the soil.
