Cucumbers starting to turn yellow

Hello,

I noticed in the last couple of days that the cucumbers on the 2 vines that I have started to turn yellow and disfigured. I am not sure what caused this or how to fix it. I know it has been really warm lately. I live in Los Angeles.

past pic.. the big one looks overly mature.. why didnt you pick it???

are these some predictable cultivar ... of which you should know.. by size.. when they are ready ...

1st picture shows insufficient pollination. You can sub for the bees if you sue a small artist's brush to transfer pollen from the males to the females.

Also, the vine is in pretty sad shape. Did it run short of water?

IMO cucumbers are soil depleters . Time for the miracle grow.

Where in the world are you?

What is the soil these are planted in like? Soil pH, nutrient levels, amount of organic matter, drainage, soil life?

What has the weather been like? Cooler than average? Warmer than average? What has the pollinator activity been like?

bottom line.. i quit growing them .. because it is nearly impossible to perfect them ...

that can be read this way: they brought me more problems, than joy ...

anyone else think that big one.. is overly mature???
