I think a beach color on the walls would help ,something blue green...then a bright rug...also you need mor light in the room,try changing your bulbs

It is quite dark. I would have thought to put a can light above the tub for sure. Is the lake in a wooded area? What is the general ambiance of the place? I assume it isn't at the beach, so more woodland and lake colors might be needed. What color is the adjoining bedroom? They should be coordinated.

Beautiful bathroom! All your colors are neutrals. Try adding the same accent color from an adjoining room in the form of art. Something big and splashy and fun. A folding screen behind the tub or a large green plant on a stool would work.

Lots you could add- perhaps a colorful canvas set like this one at Overstock.com to cover that wall and give you something to ponder while soaking. Or something modern like a graphic mirror, this one also at Overstock. As long as it is wide enough , it will give you added reflective light and cover the bare wall. Or you could add a black shelf with a mirror ( and maybe even with hooks for extra towels), that you could put candles on. A lovely bathroom for sure!

I like the bones of your space but it look kind of confused. Put this rug close to the tub, though it will extend out into the room. To the right of the tub add this fabulous leather floor mirror and in front of that a bit this natural and modern chair. Add these burlap drapes on either side of the window to visually make it feel larger. Take the palm tree print above the toilet down. It looks a bit out of place. I think it's the really warm tones mixing with the cool modern stuff. These accents will balance the effect.

Add these bins to accent the more natural look and change out the black vanity mirrors for these.

I also just saw you can't use curtains. My bad. Though I would change the blinds to a natural grasscloth or bamboo Roman shade!

Confused is right! Thx for suggestions so far. Pics make room lol darker than its is. Our lot is wooded, but away from the house. The room is actually brighter than pics make it appear. The bedroom is not adjoining, but the hall is neutral.

Even though it is a lakehouse, I am not "theming" the space. When we ultimately retire here, I don't want it to feel cheesey.

I am not really into the natural fibers and materials, but by the same token, I don't want the space to feel cold. This is how I end up confused. I would love to pull a large area rug, mane graphic, into the space and then pull the color through. By the way- pic over toilet is Albert Koetsier - not a palm tree :)

What about a tall, glass vase in the corner with a hidden light shining on it so it can be romantic when you have a bath?

a little bench going from the shower to the tub across the wall might be nice too and make it cozy.

Love what groveraxle did with the tree and the shelves, so perfect! You could swap out the shelves for a modern piece of art, but I love the shelves. Feels like a spa; especially, with the wood floor mat. I'd also recommend updating the vanity light for a more modern look. Something like this

I also think a decorative chandelier by the tub, just a small delicate pendant would look brilliant. For example even though it is the wrong palette

I would move the laundry bin and place a wooden ladder there for towels and add bamboo or roman blinds on the window. You should center the art on the wall on the right (lower a touch as well) or keep where it is and place a small stool (handy for items when taking baths). I think a large rug will pull it all together.
