Try a sample of SW Fleur de Sel. 7666. I used this but I tinted it at 110%. It is a light gray color and complements my dark gray cabinets. Good luck. Also wait a day and paint in different locations within the room. Looks light during day but looks a little darker in the evening

I love Glidden Canyon Echo. My cabinets, foyer and hallway are all this color.

Hi Sara, - How does your Alabaster cabinets look against the white subway tiles? Can you see any tint coming from it?

We are also thinking about Alabaster on our cabinets as well and doing the white subway tiles. I wanted a good white that didn't come off too beige/yellowish next to the white subway tiles. Now I have to find the right light gray for our walls.

I really love the SW Alabaster and white subway tiles. I will attach a picture. Some close friends of ours chose to have their cabinets painted in Alabaster after seeing ours. I don't see a tint at all. Good luck!

I have Alabaster cabinets and choose SW Worldly Gray for our walls. I love it! We do have gray subway tiles (not white), but I bet it might still be a nice option to consider. Good luck!

We ended up going with Worldly Gray, too! I kind of wish we would have gone just a bit darker with Amazing Gray, but I still really love it!

Thank you, Denise! I really think you will love Alabaster. It seems to go well with everything. I do love Worldly Gray. The only thing is our kitchen has a lot of natural light, and sometimes the walls can look a little washed out. Most of the time I love the color, but some times of the day I wish we had gone with a more saturated gray. Overall, though, I'm very happy with the Alabaster/Worldly Gray combo. I used subway tiles in a light gray color called Pumice...I believe the brand is called H Line.

I'm looking at brighter whites in SW fo cabinets. Which exact SW paint type did you use for your cabinets, trim and doors? I'm worried about yellowing. Help!?

Alabaster is definitely more of a creamy white, but in 2 years I have not noticed yellowing. We used SW Snowbound on our exterior trim...it's a beautiful brighter white without being too stark. Might be worth a look!

My designer chose Mindful Gray with our Alabaster trim. But I didn't use it, I did Aloof gray Bc I wanted something lighter.

Thank you, Robyn! We used a satin sheen for the Alabaster paint, and then we put a couple coats of polycrylic in a satin sheet as well. I really like the way it turned out. Some people go a little glossier, but I didn't want high shine. Good luck!

We have just chosen SW alabaster for our kitchen with a high end laminate (granite look) countertop with grey, black and cream colors. Our floor is a grey oak.

Did you end up painting cabinets yourself Saralynn? Which brand of paint and poly did you use?

We did our walls first since we gutted our entire kitchen. We chose SW Light French Gray and love it. It carries into our dinning and living rooms as well as the halls as it's all pretty open. We installed oak shaker style cabinets with a temporary off white IKEA countertop that matches SW Alabaster pretty well. I'm thinking about doing the uppers in Alabaster and the lowers in SW Classic French Gray (it's basically a darker version of the wall colour). I'm stuck on what colour to do the back splash.

I'm not a fan of pairing white with off white. Since our sink wall has a window (with farmhouse style trim) centred over the sink with one upper on each side I think I want to paint the trims throughout in Alabaster too.

our permanent countertop will take a while to get but it will be an off white with gray flecks to tie the upper and lowers together.

suggestions for backsplash? Anyone found one that matches Alabaster?

OR maybe I should go for something that matches the wall colour instead?

I think it always looks nice to match the trim to the cabinets! I have Alabaster cabinets and also used it for the trim. Looks exactly how I'd hoped. I believe our ceiling was painted the same as our walls, just lightened. That color was also an off white, SW White Duck if I'm remembering correctly. We have since painted some of the rooms so I'm not 100% sure on the ceilings.

I'm using alabaster on the walls because I have wood ceilings and wood doors and moulding... does anyone recommend a white for cabinets or can I use alabaster there too?

I did SW white flour with SW analytical gray which is a green gray with gray back splash. Not familiar with your granite. I have white tiger -white with gray and brown and a rust color. What is your flooring?

If you want sw alabaster to be a clean crisp white and all whites, the chroma needs to be at least .20 difference from your wall color. Google chroma for each color and subtract the wall chroma from the trim chroma. Mindful gray and repose gray chromas are less than .20. These two colors chromas are too close and will make alabaster look dingy. SW pure white would be a better choice for these colors. Think of chroma as a gray scale that moves from light to dark. More gray added more chroma. There isn’t enough chroma between the colors to make it look exciting when it is less than .20. This rule of a difference of .20 chroma, applies when the colors are in the same hue family. Alabaster is in the yellow hue family and mindful gray and repose gray are also in the yellow hue family.

Take a look at BM edgecomb Gray ( my favorite wall color), SW anew gray, and SW Wordly gray. These colors are all from the same yellow hue family as alabaster, and will work beautifully because their chromas are more than a .20 difference. Also, for a cohesive seamless look, the white cabinet should match the trim and ceiling.

Let’s take a look at SW sea salt. Sea Salt is very pretty. It belongs to a different hue family. Green-yellow hue family, so the .20 chroma rule doesn’t need to apply. Only use the .20 rule, when you are finding colors in the same hue family especially the yellow hue family. On a further note, gray paint will tend to have more undertones that will be noticeable like green, purple, blue, green as the chroma becomes less. Hope this helps :)

Jenny Lott, I would paint your trim sw alabaster. It would look beautiful with Krypton and Repose Gray. These two colors I have in my home.

I hope to lighten our kitchen some day, but our entire home is trimmed in SW Alabaster and walls are SW Accessible Beige. Kitchen walls SW Lemongrass

Looking at your above picture. I would paint your house one color to give it a cohesive feel. Your trim is alabaster so depending on your direction you want to go. If you want a modern warm tone and lighten it up a bit, I would choose BM edgecomb gray ( an airy feeling), or sw crushed ice. Crushed ice is very pretty with alabaster. It would definitely lighten it up but it can flash a pale blue undertone, but it is very pretty with cherry cabinets. If you choose sw crushed ice... I would have an accent wall behind your tv in sw naval. Agreeable gray could be very nice, too. Balboa mist is super pretty, too. Buy samples at Samplize to see which color works the best.
