Plants will grow well beyond the salad bowl haircuts rather soon unless in poor condition and therefore not growing normally.

there is no reason they shouldnt ...

but then the question is ... do you take more off ... to get rid of the bowl look ..

pruning for future affect might be a worthy venture ...

well ... its tough w/o a pic or 3 ...

but you could get rid of the flat bottom bowl ... by cutting some of the limbs back further ... so as to open the canopy a bit ... so that next years growth comes in from different levels ... rather than all from the bottom .. and perhaps looking stupid ... lol ...

if i were standing there with pruners and saw in hand.. i could intuit what need be done ... but explaining it in words ... just seems impossible ...

its is nothing that cant be fixed ... but it might take a year or 3 to get it back to shape.. and that is called tree time ... rather than your wish for instant gratification ... just remember.. nothing ever really died from pruning ...

Leave them alone to grow back for some years, then if you want to do any editing try it then.
