OK – It’s a Red Eared Slider. Now what do I do with it???

The first thing I'd do is educate myself about the diseases these turtles can transmit!

Maybe let the poor thing go free?

This must be someone’s pet since he is a water turtle and there
are no streams anywhere near me. I can’t
see how he would survive if I just let it go.
I have him in a container with water and a little island. I bought water conditioner and food from the
pet store. I’ll send my daughter around
to neighbors tomorrow and see if she can find the owners. :-)

Make sure anyone who handles it washes their hands well. If you don't want it take to humane society.

Google - red eared turtle care. Lots of good help. Likely get advice and help from a pet store as they are quite commonly sold there.

I assumed that it was a local turtle...do forgive me! I echo the others...find a container/water and maybe sleuth around for rescues or lost and found ads to see if anyone has lost their turtle.
