Holy wow. Lots of posts to catch up with. And a lot of new names too. Hi all and a (belated) welcome to the forum!

I'm just going to paste a bunch of pictures here, more or less as random curio.

Below: This has been blooming since May, "Fear and Surprise", rescued from a BBS.

I think I may have a Fear and Surprise fruit this season, although I've had these show up before and they have so far not made it all the way to producing seeds.

These below are both two years old. The one of the left germinated in a bag of discarded soil, in the dark and was not discovered until about 4 months later.

On-going experiment, year-old PIG seedlings. If you squint, you can see one lol I know, I know, I'll clear those other things in a bit. There are, I think, four adenium seedlings in that patch; I'll find them all later.

My all-time favorite diva, Rik Ni Ran, just starting to grow flower buds. I repotted her this spring to see if she had developed a presentable caudex. I decided to just put her back in with fresh substrate and maybe wait another two years to lift her.

Four-month old seedlings, sown February 2015. I'll be mowing down the giraffes soon. A couple of them are bigger than my two-year olds! (Thanks for the seeds, Rick!)

Finally, my only surviving winter graft. I noticed it stopped growing so I checked on it this morning and found out why.

If those new growths are not removed, they will compete for energy with the grafted piece. So, off with their heads.

That's all we have time for, folks. This summer appears to be rather mild here so my other succulents look better than my adeniums.

That little fella looked like this when i found it:

We started calling it Maggs (short for maggot for it did look like one). And it earned a name because I kept forgetting to move it out of the path of cats exiting from the cat door, so it would spill, get repotted and start trauma recovery all over again!

The pot in question (the one that looks like a tree trunk) is made of some kind of resin, I think. I'm actually very proud of that particular seedling, Tracy. It's one of my 2 do-not-disturb seedlings, i.e. I have not bothered them at all since they moved out of the crib! I usually just unpot these things when I get curious or feel like experimenting.

Those seedlings growing under weeds, for example lol I planted them there last spring, Kadie, just to see how they grow. Then of course I forgot about them. I've since removed the weeds. I'll post a pic if they start doing anything interesting.

I'll try to post more often once I'm done dealing with the doors (long story). The cats love their new yard but I keep getting dead voles!

Hi Pagan,

We all missed you! Your plants are looking quite healthy and all so very nice. I have lots of questions about your photos but I'll just ask one for now: Pray tell, why is that adenium in picture 4 growing among what looks like grass?

Hi Pagan, good to see you again. Your Adeniums look terrific. I am curious about the pot you have the seedling in on the right, 3rd image. It resembles a tree trunk. Is it fabricated or is it actually cut from a tree?

It is so very nice to see you here again Pagan. I really missed reading your posts. So glad you are back and hope everything went well with your move. I completely understand the weedy area where your adenium is. I was away from my gardens for 6 weeks and will be trying to catch up the rest of the summer.

My adeniums are just starting to bud out as well. I hope you see a load of blooms. So very glad you are back.

That little fellah from the bag of compost made me chuckle....looks like he's holding his arms skywards and proclaiming loudly...'I'm out of that darned bag at last!' You can name him 'Compo' !!

More random updates:

Rik Ni Ran in full bloom. Total diva. I really want to prune it so I can graft it to another plant but it never stops blooming in summer which is also the optimum time for grafting.

This was not labelled when rescued from Lowe's, sitting on a tray of water. I'm calling it Fear and Surprise. Not a fan of the flowers but I do love the trunk. It bloomed two months ahead of everyone else and already had one fruit before my other adeniums even started budding out.

Supposedly Hassadee Red, but turned out to be pink. Unlike the other two, this one has extremely delicate, paper-thin petals. Rain makes them stick together and the flower just looks like a wet petticoat. Sometimes even morning dew will do it.

My PIG experiment. These seedlings are all 2 years old and have never quite taken off. So I planted them in the ground, just to see what happens. I'll probably just leave them there to die in the winter if they don't do anything interesting.

Great update, Pagan! I have been looking around for a single Santa Clause (the one you're not a fan of) for a while. I have a double or triple. Can't remember off top of my head. The paper thin pink looks like Hassadee Pink. Loving the Rik Ni Ran!

You can have the seeds, Kirk. In fact, I'll whack a branch, stick it onto a yearling and if it lives, it's yours.

Clearly you have to move next door to me, Averil. This summer, for instance, I have so many succulent plants blooming and producing fruits, I'd have to offload them somehow, since I have no plans of sowing. And I'm surrounded by people who go into screensaver mode when I try to explain what I mean when I say I actually have only two cacti lol

Woohoo! LOL I see you combed through a couple of my threads and saw my Tang Dark Blood. It's a strong contender with Rik Ni Ran as my favorite.
