The words custom and Chinese do not even belong in the same paragraph much less used as adjectives to describe a common noun. Did you watch 60 minutes report on Lumber Liquidators Chinese sourced fake documented products? Do you remember the lead paint used on the children's toys? Also with fake certifications The melamine in the formula? The Chinese drywall that condemned so many houses? Still want import garbage in your home?

I agree cabinets made in China would be inferior as they don't have the guidelines the U.S. does.

Yes you need to be very concerned about Chinese gasses off of furniture for children, maybe adult bodies are already grown and set so to speak. Avoid if you can. I work in the office of a furniture store and wholesale company and do business ( my boss does ) with China. Why risk it if you can buy American.

Just my opinion, sorry if I was strong about it :-)

The Chinese cabinets are shipped over in flat boxes and assembled either on site or in the warehouse of the distributor. There is likely not even a warranty, unless the distributor has some outstanding customer service program. There is not even a comparison between the two options.
To pull together a budget for a remodel and skimp on the most integral part -- seems silly.
