So, you're thinking the polka dot duvet? It looks kind of tan. Will that work with your gray wall color?

It is actually beige with little red roses. I was thinking to do a white duvet and just draped the rose duvet on the bottom, just like in the picture. I will try and post a picture.

Here is a picture with the new side table. The duvet insert in on the bed with some gray pillows I got to match the paisley bedspread. I kind of like the white look and maybe just put a folded duvet at the end to add color. I will add to lamps and pictures too once I figure out the duvet situation.

I love the table! The white bedding is nice. Once you pick the rest of the bedding, I think I would paint the headboard.

From a guest's perspective, you need a bedside light that allows for reading in bed. Keep the shutters as is, so that the room can be kept dark for sleeping. Add a t.v. because some guests like to unwind by watching a bit of t.v. Guests who don't enjoy t.v. in the bedroom can just leave it off. Just my two cents worth. Your room is very pretty.

I love the room and head board as it is now. I would add one more lamp & a small lumbar pillow in color on the bed.

No, not too big at all. You want the table plus lamp height to be around 58". What does your combo measure?

It's 55' inches high total. Does the lamp seem too wide? I was really eyeing the Abacus Lamp from West Elm but was trying to get something for less and found this at Birch Lane on sale. The shade maybe should be white too.

Your lamp doesn't seem too big, but the nightstand appears to be too small. Look at the picture with a fresh eye, if possible (?), and you will see that a larger nightstand would look better and be more usable for your guests. Just my humble opinion at the end of the day...

As far as shade color, it's important to know what the final outcome of the bedding will be for that decision. As far as size, since your previous lamp was quite small, I bet it just looks big since you're used to seeing a smaller lamp. When I redecorated my bedroom, I replaced the previous lamps with new, much bigger, lamps. They looked huge for a day or two but look just right in size now (and much better than too small lamps).

Oh, I also meant to ask if you plan to keep the headboard the same color?

Lynn, whatever color you choose for the headboard might also help you decide the best answer for lamp shade color.

Adding light-colored curtain panels to either side of the shutters would help lighten the space by covering up some of the blue and filling out that wall - then you wouldn't have to repaint :)

This is the duvet I want to use and I would like to put some color on the end. Thinking maybe I could put the Jessie duvet folded on the end (pictured) or a solid throw?

Here it the pin tuck white duvet, with pin tuck euro white in back, gray and white stripped pillow and gray silk pillows in front. I like it but it maybe needs something on the end of the bed and maybe a lumbar pillow? Thinking to paint the headboard charcoal gray too. Thoughts?

Love the pintuck white duvet!!!!! Not even sure you need something at the bottom (possibly just a throw rather than a duvet). I would go with a lamp with a white shade as the grays are going to be hard to match. I'd take those front gray pillow covers to the paint store and find a matching color for the headboard paint. Looks nice! How did the bed skirt work out? I'm guessing you need to exchange it for pure white?

Could I use these lamps that I moved from our office? I can change the shade. I think I may be stuck with the mercury lamps above due to a restocking fee I didn't know about.

Without the distracting headboard. I added back the gray euro pillows in back and added a beige pillow in front.

The bedding is dreadful. Go shopping for a comforter set that has some pizzaz and then select the main color of the bedding for the wall color. The blue wall color is too gray, and should probably be more of a pastel blue, but go with the bedding as the main colors, then build the room around it.

Your bed is the focus of any bedroom. It needs to be the center and everything frames it. In order to get that picture worthy bed, layering and volume is key. A bed cover tuned down will help. Add a throw or blanket folded neatly; in all you want an odd number of layers. Also, use your flat sheet (another layer), pull it out from your closet, and create that sleeve at the head of the bed. Using 4 standard pillows, stack 2 per side of bed and use those large pillows you have as a background for those pillows.

I think your room has come along lovely.

Oh goodness! This is my first time reading the houzz forums about decorating; it's exhausting! Lynn N., are you confused yet?!

I don't think the crisp white bedding is dreadful at all; I like it better than the darker paisley bedding you posted a pic of before. I think the room is so small that it needs a lot of light-colored things in it. I love your two mismatched dark bedside tables AND the tall silver lamps. The headboard is not my favorite, but if it were painted either white or gray, I would like it more. Though I really think the headboard should be a bit taller. And I think you need some reflective surfaces; either mirror(s) on the wall, or shiny accents.

I really like what you've done, and I think you're almost there! I would not have done as well as you have with so many conflicting opinions. Great job!

(Oh, and I agree about folding another coverlet with more color at the foot of the bed.) :)

The white pin tuck duvet is NOT dreadful! It is romantic! I agree with shiny lamps-not so fond of the dark ones.

Thank you everyone for your comments and the encouragement. I so appreciate the constructive feedback and suggestions. I like the white pin tuck and am sticking with it! It makes the room feel so much lighter and relaxing. I will work with your suggestions and post the finished product.

I also like the paint color and the shutters. I would replace the picture on the wall with a beautiful large horizontal mirror. I would also add some nice shams and new linens to make the bed more luxurious. You could also put a matching runner to the pillows at the edge of the bedspread. You could use a garden stool as a night table on the side of the bed that doesn't have one. You could also remove the lamp from the night table and put pretty reading sconces on the wall for each side of the bed. Most important to me would be a beautiful mirror on the side wall and sprucing up the bed to make it more luxurious with new linens.

This is as far back as I can get. It's a really small room. I am waiting till I decide they work before I remove the plastic. Got rid of one of the pillows.

I would get a sunburst mirror for above the bed. Also, the grey pillow in the front needs more form and a brighter color. I would also add a colorful throw at the end of the bed.

I agree that it could use a pop of color. That could be the artwork on the walls and a throw pillow, though. It looks great!

The headboard really makes a (good) difference, and the lamps also look good! I would tuck in the duvet all around, to give the bed more structure. I must say, you have a lot of patience!

I may not have decorating ability but I am more than willing to follow direction. I really appreciate all the advice.
