I vote for going back to the people that installed them, surely it is not meant to be that way. From watching this old house etc., It would indicate to me they were not hung straight. type your problem in to your internet. It should show you. then you can sound more knowledgeable than me when you talk to this agency. I remember hearing something once about how people use the ceiling or something like that, but the ceiling is not always straight. Just terms to put in. I am no expert. I just know that I agree with you. you and i could hang it and do near as good. lol

It looks to me like it is a design feature of your particular cabinets. There is wide joint in the side panels to line up with the joint between the doors and and the crown molding in the front. No added molding will fix this, as anything that covers up the joint will block your cabinet doors from opening. If you do not like the look, I would recommend going back to the cabinet manufacturers and see if they have any options to remedy the problem.

I should add that you might be able to add a small raised molding (maybe .25" x .5") to connect the side panel and crown. Any flush infill strip will probably sill show as a joint.

Thanks so much. I'm guessing we couldn't do some kind of undercabinet molding on the top front as well as the sides since the doors would not be able to shut? Maybe order all new doors and side panels?

I don't get it. Is this different than the original design? Did you not see the gaps when the plan was drawn up? I would have your cabinet maker find a remedy until you are satisfied.
