It all depends on the colors on the body of the house, the shutters, porch, etc.

Red is almost always the right answer for a front door.

If you really want a front door that pops, try to find bright, funky colors that make your home unique. But also keep in mind that the color of the front door should tie the exterior colors together in one big, beautiful home.

A client of mine used Benjamin Moore's Gentleman Gray on a white contemporary/midcentury home on the Bay and it looks amazing! The color doesn't have to necessarily be bright but just have the right contrast with the rest of the home/landscape.
