Several of the colors that you have chosen are very nice. I'm partial to the center bottom paint swatch. It is a warm tone that looks beautiful with the flooring choice.

You have not said what are the furniture colors etc., so my opinion is purely based on the wall color and floor.

We don't have much furniture yet. We've been looking at some couches, and I was leaning towards a gray couch with bright pillows, but my husband is liking the leather "movie theater" couch idea. Thanks for your advice!

So do you want the walls and floor to have the same value? Then pick a redder/yellower gray. If you want the walls to contrast with the floor, then the greener ones are better. From top left ... yes, yes, no. Second row Yes, no, yes. :-) (in the interest of full disclosure, pink and peach are really on my dis-like list, and those two "no" colors are pinky/peachy beiges). My favorite two are #2 and #6 (middle of top row, and bottom right).

Lynne, your two favorites I think are the ones we're leaning towards currently. Although, sscovanner, I am liking your pewter color. Was thinking it should be a bit warmer, though? I think your tiles around your bar area are the same we are using in our bathroom/laundry room!

I think I am leaning toward the lighter paint swatch on the bottom left. I feel it will really brighten the room up while also giving it a warm overtone. I also believe it will go really well with the rest of your choices!

I think there's a good amount of green in the bottom left which is a lovely contrast with the flooring and will pick up the green that usually lives within espresso browns. Also a great choice. :-)

We have a room with northeastern facing windows and had a hard time deciding how to brighten it. We started with an icy blue -- oh dear lord that was a mistake! Unless you like ice houses... We finally ended up with a warm beige that in the daytime looks creamy and at night looks warm beige. It really brightened up the place. I wanted to go with revere pewter since I have seen so many gorgeous rooms painted in that color, but on the walls it looked very dull with our northern light. Since it's a basement, and not to throw any curveballs your way, have you thought about embracing the dark and going with say a medium-valued warm blue, like a teal?

the current wall colour appears beige on the pic on my screen. am I right? its hard to choose colours like this as its viewed against another colour. (the same colour on different backgrounds looks very different. and also looks different as an entire wall)

Najeebah, the current wall colors are actually just primed white on the drywall. We'll be painting fresh! Thanks for your feedback, everyone. I'm considering a possible accent wall with one of the darker shades and going light elsewhere.

We have used Ralph Lauren Metallic paint for accent walls in several projects. It gives texture, depth and interest to a room. Here is an example in a recent project. If you were going with the SW Loggia the Ralph Lauren Lush Brown would look great with it. That is the combination you are seeing in the photo below.
