looks like squirrel or rabbit teeth marks to me but it could also be a small deer (this is the time of year when fawns are out and about). Tomatoes do best when the nights are cool and the days are warm, once the nights get above a certain temperature they take longer to turn red.

That is being attacked by something, with teeth, that's a shame. try putting up some cheap fencing around your plants and see if that helps. It'll keep happening unless you keep it away.

Aggghhh! Now the same thing is happening to mine, but they are in an old iron bathtub and I don't think the bunnies can get to them! Whatever it is, it ate 6 Friday- that is every one that was on the plant!

When I see that on my tomatoes or any veggie.. the usual suspects..

Squirrels, crows, cats; they either jump over fence or, fly, and bite anything juicy to get their fill of thirst.

If you do not have a fence, add deer, raccoons, rabbits, mice rats etc.. you get the picture..

Next time, I will remember to take a picture of the culprits.

My neighbour's cat has a liking for veggies..including tomatoes.;-( .

I actually do have a fence around the garden but not stopping them....I just put down some of the granules a few days ago and so far so good. Watched some deer go through the yard and walk right by the garden so could be working......

This cat actually jumps over the 4' fence.

I last time I saw her. she was finishing off her supper with strawberries!!! LOL. I called my husband to show him the culprit.. He could not stop laughing. He said, and I quote " That one is very cultured !!" ^^

I am glad she not asking for Whipped topping on them..hehe..

What kind of fencing do you have?

I use a 2 foot rabbit fence and add another 2 feet of plastic netting on top on the 5 ft. posts for my vegetable beds. So when the deer hit the netting they do not like that. So far, they have kept away.. I did not put the netting all the way down as the snakes get entangled in them when they undergo moulting ( shedding skin) and die.. :-(
