Help with undertones in decorating

I've read a lot recently about paying attention to the undertones
in paint colors, wood tones, accent colors, etc in decorating a room. I
get that they must "agree" or, as one writer said " match". But i
haven't found any explanation of what exactly it is that makes them
agree (the better word choice, I think).
I'm redoing a bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom was succesful, I believe,
with BenM Revere Pewter walls and Dove White trim (but no furniture back in it
yet! I chose Ben M Silver fox (I've heard w/taupe and/or purple undertones) in the bathroom with very white toilet, tub and tiled tub area,

and Fired Earth Ceramics Madison Silver tile floor. Vanity turned out to be creamier white.
I planned on carrying Dove White throughout the house; but now not sure ab out it in the bath.
Also need to warm up the bath with some wood and towels, etc. but have no clue
for colors. Can you help please? (PS Still some work to do, as you can see)

Look at your beautiful floor with your BM Silver Fox! Simple adjuncts such as metals and textiles will finish this off. A royal purple set of towels or in artwork background, silver tone soap dish and tissue holder and clear toilet back will give more intrigue. Search Houzz for photos of BM Silver Fox and see what others color choices your attracted to. You've done a great job. No need for a pro here. Just imagination.

You can't tell, but tile has warm tones in it too - some almost a chocolate (but not much). http://www.homeandgardendesignideas.com/ideas/peg-61867

You need an in person designe. It's not just about undertones. It's about lighting temperature as well. And reflected color. You cannot make decisions about color from Internet anything. Go to the Find a Pro tab and hire one.

No more money to spend on a designer at this point. This was a total gut job with plumbing and electrical issues that drove the budget even above what I allotted for issues. so I'm trying to learn.

The attached gives a pretty robust description. There may be other sites that can help as well. http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/05/hues-tints-tones-and-shades/. This still doesn't help with your color choices though. When you look at paint cards, you'll notice that say green cards are located in 2 or 3 different areas and they are different in that they have bluish, brown or yellow hues for example. As well, paint can look different in the store and in your home at different times of the day, so your best bet is to bring home lots of chips (12X12 ones are great) or paint pots and test them out.
