Your TV console is too short for size of tv and you need to remove 1/2 of the pillows off sofas. Your area rug appears to be too narrow for the area. All front legs of furniture should be on the rug. I wouldn't put much on the wall as the TV is the vocal point. Maybe a vertical print on each side of the TV. More like a design rather than a picture.

I'd recommend you a nice landscape image framed in white wood or without margin in an aluminium frame, in matte to avoid the bright light of the window.

Don't put anything over the chair - just the tv. Negative space is needed over the chair to rest the eyes. Over the tv, pick a large art piece. Get from your local art gallery, or art.com.

Why not hang the TV on the wall? Costco carries TV wall brackets for under $100, and I'm sure Walmart or Sams Club does the same. Then you could put a choice piece or two on the top of the console. Also, try moving the wing-back chair (without the side table, which I'm sure could come in handy somewhere else) further into the room and place a torchiere lamp behind it. If you can, put the torchiere on a dimmer switch, with the dimmer at your coffee table. Then you can give the room a lovely dim glow while you're watching television. It would also solve your bare-wall problem. Here's an example from Lamps Plus. Be sure to click on it, as houzz only displays the center of the image.

The high ceiling is a feature in itself -- you neither need nor should want to fill that space with busy things that detract from it. Give the eye someplace to rest from the other parts of the room. Sides is something else -- agree that you could put something over table and matching on other side. But no rush, wait to find something you like.

Why don't you try out a few masks? You can put three on the wall on either side of the TV, without cluttering the space too much. Or an arrangement of three small pictures,

White will work. You have such exquisite taste I know that when you find the right one you will know.

If you are not ready to purchase another tv stand ...if it is paintable ...the stand may look better if it was black ...thus making it look like a unit..like many others I think your room only needs a few little tweeks ...nothing more...one thing missing is color..this can be easily added by adding two large pillows to each couch that are firm and colorful and decorative. ..perhaps with a lush fluffy fringe border...looks like you have deep seating and larger pillows work well for this...if you can use the rug somewhere else in your home you can one that is shaped better for your space ...since it is laid over carpet the rules change..you can have a slightly smaller rug that just fits into the space with no furniture overlap.. It could even be round or oval...this gives you an opportunity to inject some more color to coordinate with the pillows..and also allow for a little more mobility with your furniture

One suggestion re: the over TV question..it is a dilemma for sure but one solution could be a fairly tall decorative screen centered behind the TV and somewhat wider..this would also add a focus point to add a little more definition between the living and dining areas

Ok thoughts? I picked these up with the intention of using them for a project I'm working on but I decided to just see what they would look like in my living room as I am desperately looking for something to fill my walls. I feel there MAY be potential here! Keep in mind I can also paint Furniture diff colors if need be and that I clearly love the rustic design style. But I still have so much space to fill... Anyway thoughts!? Am I losing it? ;) and I know my rug is too narrow, I ordered the wrong size :(

I don't think it serves any purpose in the corner. Try placing it flat on wall behind TV. Did you decide not to replace TV console?

I agree flat on the wall behind the TV...but it does sort of just look like you took your closet doors off and re-purposed them...can you add a decorative crown to cover the pins at top....?

The white screen effect ties in well with the white cabinet to make a more cohesive unit and should fill your wall nicely with the added possibility of hanging a decor piece on each side of the screen to further the separation of dining and living

Also re:the rug ...try laying it crosswise and moving the couch forward to create a cozier feel and possibly leaving space behind the couch to install a lovely long console table

First thing to do is to send the rug back and get the right size.

Between the dining space and the living room I would get a tall 7-8 foot tree and that will help define both areas and provid interest in both areas. I would put an upright to light the foliage up at nite and that will provide some interest pattern upon the wall and ceiling., that will break up that "unwanted empty space" you have.

I would consider getting another matching wing back chair that you already have.. Twist the sofas around .... ? Eliminate one of them.,, I disagree with most comments here. The focal point should NOT be the TV, but that picture/bay window and have the TV set off to the side..meet you eye to view what is outside that window... A nice flower bed, water feature, shrubbery... Create a nice garden outside that window...

You will then be happy!

A console table is good anywhere it will fit..maybe even incorporate something as a catch all for all the stuff going up or down the stairs...a cool basket underneath or beside it?Also hoping there is room for a little bench beneath the table...perfect spot to snack or work on i-pad

Moving the couch forward to the TV enough could provide the room for the table...the ideal distance for TV viewing is closer than most people think
