I'm planning on changing the carpet in my house for laminated floors, I was wondering what are the pros and cons from light color to a dark floors?

Laminate flooring offers extreme durability, maintaining its good-as-new appearance for many, many years. Laminate flooring does not fade and it will not wear through, so it will keep looking as nice as the day it was installed. Check it out why:

1.) Laminate floors are UV ray resistant and will not fade even after years of exposure to direct sunlight. Your floor will never change shade and/or color even under the carpet. Floors covered with wood, carpet, and vinyl can all fade under direct sunlight, and vinyl tends to yellow with age, unlike laminate flooring which holds its color.

2.) Laminate flooring is stain and wear resistant. Wood, vinyl, and carpet show signs of wear in high traffic areas, which laminate flooring does not. All other flooring materials are vulnerable to stains, which simply do not occur with laminate flooring. With laminate flooring, spills such as nail polish are kids stuff. The words "Stay off the floor with that" may never pass your lips again.

3.) Finally, while every child is told not to play with matches, sometimes accidents happen (and not just to children) and hot items can fall or be dropped. Instead of permanently discoloring, melting, or charring your floor, laminate flooring takes the cake by being heat resistant, along with all its other positive attributes. Only ceramic tile offers the same burn resistance provided by laminate flooring.

Great answers, Distinguished Flooring! The flooring in the photo is actually travertine with a chiseled edge (not laminate). Sealing and honing the tile will keep it from staining or being slippery.

lam flooring in dark colors looks better in light room, vice versa.
