love the aged pewter!

The aged pewter actually looks like it has some taupe in it when you see the sample in person.

You asked a few months ago but in case it took you as long as me, the contractor just started putting the Pewter Gray on mine yesterday.

Would love to see a picture when it is done. We went with a different color but am still curious.

Keep in mind that colors tend to look darker when they covers large square footage. The trim will also play a big role in how the color will be perceived. So being said, Gray pearl will looks darker once the house is painted in comparison to the small swatch of color, especially if it's paired with a white trim.

He's finished only half of the front and I keep saying the wrong name-it's the Aged Pewter. I was nervous but l love it seeing on the house now. I was looking on this site for ideas for the color of outside light fixtures. Would enjoy seeing what color you chose. It took me forever to decide on the Hardie but, as soon as I saw it on the house, it only took 10 minutes to pick the shutters and garage door.

lcwburton, we went with sandstone beige for a warmer feeling. I'm happy with our choice because we have so much grey inside the house. We anguished between a moire black roof and a warmer multi-color one in weatherwood, and GW helped me with that decision too. Trim was easy. I had to talk DH into a red door, but I reminded him it's only paint, and if we don't like it, we have a nice neutral color picked out. We are pleased with the final colors.

Golfergirl29, that is absolutely gorgeous. I love the door and wouldn't have thought of red but it really works. Our house has been white with a red door for years. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the pewter. We're replacing the door but I'm going to try different colors on the old one first. The pewter sample looked like it had more brown than it does on the house but it's still a warm gray. I'll post when the front is complete and hoping you will offer opinions on door color.

The articles I read about front doors was to make them stand out from the house so you know exactly where to go. I read a fabulous book, "What NOT to Build," which illustrated the do's and don'ts of exteriors. You know how you look at a house and just have a gut feeling something's not quite right? This book identifies what that 'thing' was. So glad I found it before we started to build. Still can't wait to see what we would have had if we had gone the gray route on the exterior. Photos, please!!! BTW, our backup color was a warm brown for the door.

Love that they came out with new colors but I'm still having a hard time. I love Pearl Gray for my contemporary house but hope its not washed out. Also love the Slate Gray but afraid it has some blue/green tones in it which will look to monochromatic with my bluestone walks and gray stonework. Also don't want that colonial blue feel. The Aged Pewter is also nice but I don't want a brownish house with all the gray stonework and walks. Your comment on how it doesn't look so brown once it was up caught my attention. I also picked out some dark graphite light fixtures and currently have a black door and white trim which makes me think the Pearl Gray will pop. Any thoughts?

I got sick while the Aged Pewter was going on so it's been a stalled project for months. In the picture, the lighting, door and landscaping aren't done. The Aged Pewter sample, to me, has a brown element to it where the house is much more gray. We're going with bronze fixtures and a very heavy 3 panel door in a true teal. I'm very happy with the gray and we get unsolicited compliments from neighbors probably because all the other homes are white or varying shades of taupe so we're noticed entering the street. I just can't wait for it to be finished. I feel like hanging a sign saying picture the door etc etc. I'd rather not even put the picture of it unfinished here!!! While I was away, husband decided to paint one of the old $300+ Baldwin brass fixtures black to see how it looked. Black looked good but I laughed at the size over the garage and had him take it down thinking a hole would look better.

I am so excited to find this post! I, too, am debating and love the Pearl Gray but two other houses next to house have a similar color so my husband doesn't want it. We both like the aged pewter but I don't want to appear brown in any way (have bluestone walks in front and back is a bluestone patio). Your post gives me hope that it will still appear gray. Our door will be a dark, dark walnut brown and white trim. I'd love to see more pics if anyone out there has used Pearl Gray also. Thanks so much!

I took the Hardie sample with me when picking out lighting but stopped because it really didn't represent the way it looks on the house. A neighbor has a gray house. Even though I describe ours in the Aged Pewter as gray, I think the warmth of the taupe or brown that I see in the sample just makes our gray a rich warm gray in person. I had considered the Timber Bark but that was way too dark for me. Good luck picking the color. I found it an overwhelming decision that I'm glad is over. Even though I've picked out the color for the door, I'll probably spend an agonizing amount of time second guessing. Since the new door isn't installed yet, I'll be testing colors on the old one so that will help. Also, my husband bought a shed and had Sherwin Williams mix the Aged Pewter and it looks great painted to look like the house.

Love the Pearl and a black door would pop. I loved the contrasting doors in London during visits and started doing ours that way over 30 years ago when it was very odd in our area. We're getting a heavy looking door and I was considering a high gloss black. With the right hardware it would pop on the Aged Pewter but probably not as much as on the Pearl. I'm having put shutters painted the same black but in a semi gloss to make them stand out. The door will be a high gloss teal with just a heavy center knocker in deep bronze and a heavy handle set. If I'd gone with the black door, I was going to use high polished brass to make it stand out against the Aged Pewter. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Our house was white and I needed a change. We're thinking of selling in 2 years so I had to think of what would sell. If not for that, I wanted to Mountain Sage (I think that's the name of the green). I saw a house once and fell in love with it but was afraid to put it in this neighborhood. I hope you'll let us know which ones you choose.

We are painting our house the JH Slate Gray - this area was a "sample" to see if we liked it.. The entire house is being painted this week.. Window accents will be painted a white (not sure what white yet).

The Slate Gray looks so pretty!!! You made a great choice. It's difficult to tell in pictures on-line but, when I enlarged it, the windows appear creme and it looks so soft and elegant. Now I want Slate Gray but I'd like to keep on living so I'm not going to tell my husband.

We just finished our home project with new Pearl Gray Hardie Planks. I love it!

We are currently building and the siding is up -- it's Pearl Gray (front doors not yet stained or painted)

Does the Pearl Gray read brown or toupe at all? Looking for a true gray. Was afraid the Light Mist would be too light.
