They don't have dual evaporators or compressors from my what my appliance rep said. They are effectively a fully integrated/built-in version of the F&P counter depths except with ice maker always available even if you don't get in-door water (unlike freestanding models which are all or nothing). WRT dual compressors/evaps, I've never had a high end built-in like Sub Zero so I don't know what I'm missing :)

But more importantly this is the only 72" high french door integrated built-in on the market that is over 30" wide. There are 22" and 24" Liebherr and Blomberg options, but those are too small in cu ft. I don't have enough width to install two of those side by side either. And all other full size built-in models are non-starters because my wife can't see the top shelves on 80" and 84" high models - she vetoed the whole idea strongly.

FYI for those that want to see this in person - there is also a DCS version of this fridge which is identical except it has beefier DCS style handles. My local store had one of those installed in a demo kitchen already. It is otherwise identical to the F&P.

TBH, this fridge is not a Mercedes or Rolls. Rather it reminds me of an Acura - nice finishes and features for price, but not truly a high end luxury item. However, it is the only game in town for size and price point for integrated looks which is what I need.

brick is there a price difference between the DCS and F&P? Are you getting panel ready or stainless?

Not much difference - maybe $300. We're doing panel ready F&P.

Yes, I saw it today as it happens! I reached out to F&P and they informed me that it was on display at Karl's in Paramus (DCS and where I saw it), Curto's in Yonkers (DCS), and Gringers in Commack (F&P). They also told me that their showroom in A&D building is due to open next month. I liked the freezer configuration/space better than Liebherr 36" - maybe an upside of having only one condenser. i have no idea how ActiveSmart compares in real world to BioFresh, but price point is certainly compelling.

Did you by any chance take pics of the freezer compartment? Price point is very compelling. I'm going to see if I can see it here in FL

The 72" and 80/84" are differentiated by the hinges and a plinth at the base. Otherwise they are the same platform. In NYC I assume the 72" will sell because of the cabinetry that can be installed above it.

Unfortunately Pirch, where I work now, doesn't display this unit. We do carry it however if anyone in the NYC area is interested. I am going to go and take pictures as soon as the showroom in the A&D building opens.

tricks, thank you. That bottom drawer looks fairly deep? I need a fairly deep freezer drawer. Not because I freeze much. I don't. Mostly I buy fresh. However our dog eats RAW and I make her food a month at a time so need lots of storage for her food containers. (I know, I know. I'm nuts for being concerned about freezer space for a dog.)

Yes, bottom drawer is good depth imo - didn't measure it tho. here's a pic of the refrigerator section. We are doing a kitchen remodel and purchasing a DCS RS36A72JC1 36 x 72 inch French Door fridge. They are listed at $3899 + $300 for the stainless steel panel = $4200. This is the pro model which is $200 more than the Fisher Paykel RS36A72J1 - nicer handles and metal interior. Nervous and excited at the same time. I'm sure as people start installing these the reviews will start rolling in, Will let you know what I find out once it's installed.

The good thing is - worst case scenario- it has same cut out size as other counter depth - 25 in deep, 36 wide (allowing 1/8 in gap for built in look.) so worst case it's a lemon and we have the doors of a kitchen aid or something stick out

Yes. It's smaller, but like everything else. Nice enough. No internal water was biggest downside. We are getting custom panels. Our other pick was kitchen aid but doors would stick out. Didn't want to pay 8000 so this seemed the right choice (only
Choice) for affordable built in. 1000 more than counter depth.

I haven't seen one yet. Not sure what way I'm going to go. Right now leaning towards either the Bosch integrated or the Liebherr but I have a year to worry about it.

Ok...I had one installed in my kitchen remodel which just finished last month. Got the upgraded stainless door panels so it looks really nice. It's super quiet and easy to use and we love the "built in look" it gives our kitchen. Click on the photo attached below to see it.
Even though it has a smaller capacity for food since there are only 2 of us now it has plenty of space for us. The one big downside is the ice making capability - it only makes 8-10 cubes every 3-4 hours - it has an "ice boost" function which supposedly makes ice faster but it just does not seem like a lot of ice is produced even after a few days. So don't depend on it for even small parties...:)

Love it so far - no real complaint after a month of usage.

Is there lots of room in the freezer compartment?

Oh I like the 3 levels. I'm definitely going to have to go find one to see. Thank you for the photos.

hi there, just wondering if anyone has any feedback on these fridges yet? Any problems of note? Are they noisy?

I've had the Fisher Paykel DCS RS36A72JC1 36 x 72 inch French Door fridge installed in June 2016. It is super quiet and sharp looking. I did have some issues initially (ice maker was not producing much ice and temps did not seem too be cool enough). After 3 service calls they ended up replacing the entire fridge and it works great now. It has a 2 year warranty which is more than most fridges. There are photos above from my prior posts you can see. We love it.

Thanks so much. My issue with most of the other fully integrated fridges is that they are too tall for me.....I'm only 5'0". Besides the Fisher Paykel, is there any other option?

My wife is 5'2 and has no issues - this is a 72 inch height (6ft) which is shorter than the std true built ins. You should go to a store that has it in stock and see for yourself. I don't know of other options..sorry.

Love it - we did have an issue with the first one but FP sent out a replacement which has been great. I assume you saw my photos posted above several months ago to see what it looks like in my kitchen. The cabinet depth fridge really gives the kitchen a really sleek look. Now when I see kitchens where the fridge doors stick out 2-3 inches from the cabinet and are not flush with the cabinet doors I realize how much nicer it looks.

Pros -
1) 2 year warranty covers everything vs 1 year for most fridges
2) super quiet - can't even hear it run
3) easy access to 3 drawer freezer makes storing food easy
4) gives my kitchen a really slick modern look and feel
5) 1/2 the price of the bigger built-ins (Wolf, Thermadore, etc)
6) self closing doors (after you hit "latch point" when closing)
7) alarm beeps if doors are left open for too long

Cons -
1) it's just my wife and I so we think there is plenty of room but if you have a big family you may find it not big enough to store everything you need.
2) water filter has to be replaced every 6 months - I was thinking it would last a year - but like most people I probably won't replace it for a year or more...:)
3) Ice production is very low and slow (I think it only makes 8-10 cubes every 3-4 hours - so if you use a lot of ice everyday (especially in the summer) you may need to buy a bag or 2 on occasion.
4) one of the freezer drawers is sticking - just have not gotten around to placing a service call - not a big deal
5) No temperature readout - so if you want to know how cold it is you need to get a fridge thermometer gauge and put it into the fridge - that's how we knew something was wrong with the first one - fridge seemed warmer than usual and never got colder than 44.

One recommendation is to have it installed by someone that just installs appliances versus having a general contractor do it - these higher end fridges have a lot of "adjustments" that need to be made. The FP rep said there are 8 points of adjustments on the doors and on the Thermadors there are like 16. I know my general contractor really struggled to install the first one and took him a long time to do it. So when FP sent the replacement fridge out they paid to have a professional appliance installer do it and it was much faster for them and the doors were aligned perfectly.

I would buy one without a second thought - I paid for the upgraded french doors and handles - which give it that really slick look.

Just thought I'd add that I've had mine for quite a while now - it has been trouble free. After install I did end up ordering the SS panels because the wood look was just too heavy for my kitchen - not a fridge problem. Very nice unit for the price. Nothing else on the market comes close. The 72" high is great - my wife vetoed all the 84"s because she couldn't reach stuff in them. Storage is limited for large groups as poster above said, but I had a F&P free standing unit before so I was used to this smaller cu ft size. If you're coming off a 30 cu ft free standing (e.g. GE, KA, etc) you might be woeful at first. But most of the premium built-ins are about this size too unless you buy doubles ($8k X 2). You sacrifice some raw storage size for elegance.

Yes...it has more features on it than I realized. The one thing I learned is that these newer "energy efficient" ovens take longer to pre-heat due to the way they are constructed. So pre-heat can take longer than on the older style ovens but that's just the nature of the beast.
